Background Information on Carlee

Carlee was abandoned in the corridor of the third floor of the new born baby department at Longhua Hospital on 9/12/2005. Her parents were not found and she remained at the hospital until 12/15/05. At that time she was moved to the Bao'an District Social Welfare Center. She arrived at the orphanage in good health and was named at that time Bao(means Bao'an district where she lives) Long stands for dragon and Xiang for river. Dragon River hummm... I hope pampers can handle it!!

According to the report she is active and gets along with others. She has beautiful eyes is small in stature and everyone loves her. She likes to play outside. She is a healthy and lovely little girl.

I have to say reading this information was bittersweet. Knowing she was laying in the hospital in a hallway made me choke up . But as I thought about it I realized that her parents probably did the best thing they could be leaving her at a children's hospital. She obviously received great care and was never left out in the cold. I can't even imagine having to do something like that. It makes me want to get there as soon as possible.

We should be leaving by the end of December is all goes well.

The way to a little girls heart!

They say the way to someone's heart is through their stomach. Our friends (Chris and Diana McCall) have been to China and back already (and brought home their beauty name Samantha). They made sure we would be a hit with Carlee by providing us with lots of bribes, I mean, finger foods to help her and us with the initial transition. We also got two beautiful "cold weather" foo foo outfits for Miss Carlee. I'm sure she'll be as snug (and as cute) as a bug in them. Thanks Chris and Diana for the gifts, your friendship and all the prayers and encouragement you have offered through the months of waiting.

November 5th 2007

Monday, November 5th 2007 after more than two years of waiting and wondering...we finally saw the face of our angel. Our family will be complete when we travel to China and bring home our Carlee Mei (currently known as Bao Long Xiang) from Guang Dong province in the Peoples Republic of China.

We are planning to make this a family trip with Carlee's new sisters (Amanda 24, Jamie 16 and Rebecca-Lynn 11). We just received her medical report and documents to complete accepting her as our daughter. In the weeks to come I hope to update this blog to reflect the preparation for the trip, as well as, the excitement of meeting and bonding with Carlee. Thank you to all our family and friends who have been supportive and prayful through this wait. We are especially grateful to the Lord for giving us the desires of our hearts. We continue to put our lives in His hands.

God bless you all,

The Berg family
